Privacy Policy.
Last updated September 19, 2026.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Byte Level Research (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects through the Web Globalization Report Card (webglobalizationreportcard.com, the “Service”), how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways:
- Information you give us directly — your name and email address when you create an account, subscribe, or contact us; your organization name if you tell us; and the content of any message you send through our contact form.
- Information collected automatically — standard web analytics (pages visited, referring site, approximate location from IP address, browser and device type) via Google Analytics, and a session identifier plus browser/device information tied to your account, which we use to enforce the number of simultaneous sign-ins (“seats”) included in your plan.
- Information from service providers — when you subscribe, Stripe (our payment processor) shares limited billing information with us, such as your subscription status and the last four digits of your card. We never see or store your full card number.
2. How we use it
We use this information to:
- Create and maintain your account, and give you access to the content your plan includes
- Process payments and manage subscriptions and renewals
- Enforce the seat/device limits attached to your plan
- Respond to messages you send us
- Send account-related email (receipts, password resets, service notices) and, if you’ve opted in, occasional updates about new research or features
- Understand how the Service is used, in aggregate, so we can improve it
We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it to train third-party AI models.
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the service providers that make the Service work, each of whom is only permitted to use it to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles account authentication
- Stripe — processes subscription payments
- Resend — delivers account and, if you’ve opted in, marketing email
- Google Analytics — provides aggregate site-usage analytics
- Vercel — hosts the Service
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Byte Level Research, our subscribers, or others.
4. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: one to keep you signed in, one to remember your light/dark theme preference, and Google Analytics cookies to measure site usage. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though doing so may prevent you from staying signed in.
5. Data retention
We keep account information for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, we retain your account and billing history for our own record-keeping and legal obligations, and delete it on request where we’re not required to keep it. Session records used for seat enforcement are automatically cleared after 30 days of inactivity.
6. Your choices
You can:
- Review and update your account information from your account settings
- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any such email
- Request a copy of, correction to, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us
If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or the CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise any of these rights.
7. Security
We rely on our service providers’ security practices (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect your information, and we limit who at Byte Level Research can access it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
8. Children
The Service isn’t directed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. International visitors
The Service is operated from the United States. If you access it from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. We’ll update the date at the top of this page when we do.
11. Contact
