Web Globalization Report Card
Methodology

How the grading works.

Every edition scores the same tracked companies against a consistent set of criteria, so a grade in one year means the same thing in another.

Language support

Each company’s primary website is checked against a tracked list of languages and locale variants (for example, Spanish for Latin America versus Spain). A language counts once it appears as a distinct, navigable version of the site — not as a machine-translated overlay.

Tracking additions and withdrawals

Where the year a language was added is known, it’s recorded against that edition’s tracking sheet. If a company later drops a language version entirely, that withdrawal is marked and reflected in the Language Ledger’s Retreats section.

What’s not yet public

The full grading methodology — including the mobile and UX categories from past print editions — is being migrated onto this site alongside the historical data. This page will expand as that migration completes.
